Liebster Award

We made it to Friday!

Today, I am linking up with Andrea, Narci & Erika to share my favorites.

It was a favorite that I was nominated for the Liebster Award! - Since the post is mostly my favorites, I thought I would link up :)
Thank you friends!

Thank you for the Nomination Katelyn! Check out her fun blog @ Simply Sunflour

How did you get started blogging?

Well,  I have been searching for a creative outlet. Something I could really get into without spending a lot of money. I thought seriously about starting one for 6 months before taking the plunge. I thought grad school would be a theme and I knew I would appreciate a "journal"  of my journey.

What has blogging taught you?
I have learned so much about my likes & dislikes. I have learned to put myself out there, and share all the emotions good or bad.  I have realized how sentimental I can be too! I often find myself sharing too much info.

What are some items on your bucket list?
1. Go to Greece- I think the picture says why ;)
This is Santorini
The beautiful Santorini - can't wait to revisit at some point in the future.: The beautiful Santorini - can't wait to revisit at some point in the future.

2. Go to the Atlantis Resort & Slide down the Waterslide
I am currently convincing Zack that this should be our honeymoon destination ;)
Doesn't this look like fun? Plus the Caribbean waters...

Waterpark, Bahamas been here to and I'm going again realy realy soon can't wait I'm thrilled: Waterpark, Bahamas been here to and I'm going again realy realy soon can't wait I'm thrilled

4. Travel all over Europe
I said Greece earlier, but  I really want to visit Ireland, Rome, Paris... Basically the big (&little cities) all over Europe. I have recently gotten wanderlust for these places. I hope to travel a little bit before I have kids :)

5. Go to a blogging conference
I think this looks so exciting. I don't have any one particular one in mind. I just think it would be fun to take my "hobby" to the next level. What are some conferences that you have been too/ heard about?

What’s your favorite thing about where you grew up?
I have such a hard time choosing one favorite. I love my hometown; the mountains are home. I don't imagine myself living very far away from WNC.

Asheville is such a fun-loving town, and I love the small-town vibe it still generates.
Isn't it beautiful?

Where is the best place you’ve traveled to?
I have been to a lot of beautiful places. SInce it was my most recent trip, I feel like the Florida Keys are beautiful & unique. The water is so clear!

Who are the most influential people in your life?
Find your tribe. Love them hard. TruthBomb. Friends. Family.: Find your tribe. Love them hard. TruthBomb. Friends. Family.

My tribe influences me. Each person in my circle inspires, challenges and loves me in their unique way. I love how practical my dad is, how empathetic my mama is, how genuine Zack is, and how strong my memaw is. My mom's parents have shown me unconditional love & taught me to value education. I feel so loved and inspired everyday, it's hard for me to narrow it down.

What’s your favorite book you’ve ever read?
The Help. I love when I laugh and cry from a book. Kathryn Stockett did such an excellent job of making her characters come to life. And lord that chocolate pie scene makes me cry from giggling so much!

An empowering novel set in Jackson, MS. Yes it is about racism and there is definitely some stereotyping - HOWEVER the characters are accessible and the message is powerful.: An empowering novel set in Jackson, MS. What are 5  things that make you happy?
These aren't in order by any means ;)

1. Hazlenut Coffee & Krispy Kreme donuts (My very favorite are the regular glazed)

2. Being silly with Zack
This is a picture of a picture, since I don't have a digital copy :(

3. Reading a good book
I am an overthinker, so sometimes to take a breather, I turn to a good book

4. Hosting bonfires
I love when all my people, or tribe if you will, gets together in one place. It makes me so happy to see all the people I love in one room.

5. Late night talks with Memaw
I will always cherish the times at home with Memaw, we often get the late night giggles sharing pieces of our day! I love spending time with her.

Where or what is your happy place?

The Outer banks in North Carolina. I grew up going here on vacations, and it's where I feel most at ease.

What has been a life changing experience for you?
On November 15, 2013, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes ( usually diagnosed in kids, I was an exception). I was thankful to have an explanation for how bad I have been feeling. Although I was glad to have a label, this needle fearing girl was about to undergo a huge lifestyle change. Type 1 is the kind that can't be cured. So in other words, I have to give myself shots daily or be on the insulin pump until we find a cure. Everything I eat, I calculate. I also had to give up sweet tea :( Now, I am allowed to have sugar, just not in high doses, such as McD's Sweet tea. I am learning to adjust even two years later. It has changed my life, and now I can be an advocate for others. I have such empathy now for people with chronic disease.  & I am so ready for them to find a darn cure!

Thank you everyone for reading!

  1. My husband has Type I and he was diagnosed when he was 4. I'm praying for a cure someday for it because it's a horrible disease! He's on the pump and has a CGM but hardly ever wears it. Take care of yourself!!

  3. I saw the movie The Help and really enjoyed it but I definitely need to read the book. That chocolate pie scene though...haha! You are so strong for having to deal with your diabetes. That's so tough. I wish no one had to deal with any chronic diseases.
