Last week I shared my first 5 Tips on planning for grad school applications.
If you want to see the full recap before continuing click here
I summed them up with this fun graphic:
Okay, now we're ready for the next 5!
1. Plan for the GRE.
If you are not taking Summer classes then I totally recommend studying over the summer. Now, this is harder than it looks. I promise buckling down and studying is worth it. It gets super crazy Senior year, and it’s even harder to study in the Fall. I studied my GRE book at the beach because #girlneedssomesun
7. Schedule the GRE
I scheduled my first one in August before I applied. I had a lot of friends take it over the summer & even in the spring of Junior year. Basically, I recommend taking the test when you feel comfortable and your schedule allows. Just make sure that you allow for time to take it again in case you don’t like your first score. Correct me if I am wrong, but it can take 4-6 weeks to get your score back!
8. Buy a Binder (or Notebook)
When I got back to school in the Fall, I began to organize the binder. I had a section for the GRE, Transcripts, & one for each of the schools. I printed out important dates, cost of applications and general information about each school. It was a great way to have that information all in one place. I also kept a spreadsheet on my computer for passwords and a checklist.
Stay tuned, I think there might even be an entire post coming on this one! ;)
9. Fill out your planner.
The best way to keep track of all the deadlines is to invest in a planner. I prefer to write things out because it helps me to remember. In my planner, I wrote down all the deadlines for applications to the programs I was applying too.
10. Enjoy your last year!
With all the stress of GPA, GRE & Applications, it is SO easy to get caught up. Don’t forget to relax & engage in self-care. It’ll be okay, and you’re already ahead because you have organized yourself. ;)
